Constellation Energy (CEG) shares are ripping higher on October 6th after management announced a massive clean energy partnership with Google.
The agreement will see Google invest in nuclear uprates across 11 of CEG facilities in three states. The deal brings 890 MW of fresh, zero-carbon capacity to the critical PJM grid serving 67 million people.
The news adds to momentum in Constellation Energy stock as it attempts to stage a comeback. At writing, it’s up more than 20% versus its low in late September.
Significance of Google deal for Constellation Energy stock
The strategic pairing with Google is largely constructive for CEG shares.
Estimated at about $4.3 billion over a 20-year horizon, the contract funds efficiency and equipment uprates – modernizing turbines, steam generators, and digital systems across operating facilities.
Instead of waiting five to 10 years for complex greenfield reactor construction, reactor uprates will enable Constellation to squeeze hundreds of incremental megawatts from its existing infrastructure almost immediately.
Note that the Google deal aligns perfectly with PJM’s “Bring Your Own Power” framework, proving that hyperscale data centers can expand AI infrastructure by privately funding grid capacity rather than shifting financial burdens onto retail utility customers.
For Constellation, it locks in guaranteed, high-margin cash flow backed by an elite balance sheet.
What else makes CEG shares worth buying today?
Investors looking for exposure to the booming AI power demand have plenty of reasons to consider Constellation Energy shares at current levels.
Despite today’s gains, the clean energy stock remains discounted compared to its price at the start of 2026.
In other words, at a forward price-to-earnings (P/E) multiple of about 21x, CEG is trading well below its historical high-water valuation despite improving fundamentals.
As the largest operator of nuclear power plants in the US, Constellation holds an unmatched, clean baseload footprint, which is partly why management recently raised its full-year adjusted operating earnings guidance to about $12 per share.
However, prospective buyers should balance their enthusiasm with patience.
Regulatory reviews for plant modifications can still encounter bureaucratic friction, and long-term tech contracts take time to fully reflect in quarterly earnings.
Should you invest in Constellation Energy?
All in all, the mega-deal signals a “pivotal shift” in how Silicon Valley solves its immense energy hunger.
Rather than relying on intermittent renewables or dirty fossil fuels, tech leaders are willing to sign multi-decade offtake agreements to guarantee uninterrupted, clean electricity.
By turning existing reactors into powerhouses of extra generation, CEG establishes the operational playbook for clean power providers nationwide.
While market volatility is bound to trigger occasional pullbacks, the broader tailwinds surrounding nuclear power have rarely been stronger.
In conclusion, Constellation Energy sits right in the sweet spot of the global energy transformation, making today’s Google-fueled surge in CEG stock look less like a temporary flash and more like the start of a sustained growth phase.
